With utter dismay I’ve been following President Obama’s unconscionable usurpation of limitless executive power with regards to the War in Libya. And let us clear: The bombing of Libyan ground targets, the arming of rebels, and CIA presence on Libyan soil (in an advisory capacity, so they say) all represent aggressive acts of war. This is a third war we have now embarked upon in a Muslim country. Absurdly, once again, American missiles are being fired at a country that poses absolutely zero threat to our national security. And this time our Commander in Chief has committed us to war by executive fiat. No congressional approval. No meaningful debate. Not even a symbolic vote by the legislature to at least give the pretense of abiding by the dictates of Article I of the US Constitution. Everything this man campaigned on—- hope and change, the dawn of a post-partisan era, the end of the Imperial Presidency—–all a complete fraud.

I’m no foreign policy guru. I’m not there in the Situation Room. I don’t presume to think that my feelings wouldn’t be different if I had access to all the relevant information that the national security council has. But such a monumental decision cannot be contingent on personal feelings. It’s one thing to help avert a potential slaughter, such as at Benghazi (although such rationale appears to be somewhat arbitrary; otherwise why aren’t there bombs raining down in the Ivory Coast, Yemen and Bahrain?) It’s quite another to unilaterally assert the right to bomb the bejeesus out of a foreign land. We are not a nation of Great Benevolent Men. We are rather a nation of laws. Believe it or not, even the President of the United States must abide.

I see parallels in this current military overreach with what is happening in healthcare. We spend 30% of a person’s lifetime Medicare outlays on care provided during the last year of his or her life. We spent $50 billion of Medicare dollars last year on dying patients’ last two months of life. Why are we doing this? Why has that 30% number remained unchanged for almost 30 years? Why do I continue to see consults on demented 89 year olds in the ICU who are intubated and unresponsive and suffering from multiple organ failure? And they linger for days and days. And the chart contains consults from numerous highly trained specialists, all dutifully offering the best that American health care can provide.

Is it greed? In our procedure-oriented, profit-driven health care culture, you eat what you kill. Why spend an hour doing a thorough history and physical examination, talking with family members and concluding that no further treatment is warranted when you can send your PA to do a quick consult, sign her note, and schedule the patient for a lucrative procedure the next day. Are we in Libyan merely to protect Italian oil interests? Are we there just to safeguard British Petroleum investments? Or is it truly a “humanitarian” venture?

This Change Up will Make Your Knees Buckle

Where it’s legal and where it’s not.

This changeup is fun to watch.  We’ve slowed it down to give you a better look at it.  Scroll down below the video for an explanation about whether this pitch is legal.

Is this Pitch Legal?

This pitch seems like it would be legal under USSSA Tournament Rules.  In Rule 6, Pitching Rule, it states:

“G. The Pitcher may use any windup provided:…”   “4.  The pitcher does not make more than one and one half revolutions of the arm in the windmill pitch. A pitcher may drop the pitching arm tothe side and to the rear before starting the windmill motion. The balldoes not have to be released the first time past the hip.”

Unfortunately for pitchers and fortunately for batters, this pitch is illegal in many other places in women’s and girls fast pitch softball.

In NCAA Softball Rules, Rule 10, it states:

“10.6.3   The pitch shall be released underhand and the hand shall travel below the hip. ” “10.6.4   The release and follow-through of the hand and wrist must be forward.”

This pitch clearly follows these rules. Where it breaks down is the next line.

“10.6.5  The pitcher may not make another arm revolution after releasing the ball.”

Watching the video, she clearly releases the ball and then makes another revolution with her arm, essentially making it illegal.

Also, USA Softball Official Rules of Softball 2017:

Rule 6A Pitching Regulations (Fastpitch), Section 3 (Legal Delivery),

M:  The pitcher shall not make another revolution after releasing the ball.

Triple Crown Sports tournaments use ASA rules, while PGF tournaments use NFHS rules which Softball Nation has not downloaded at the time of publishing.

Either way, this pitch is a lot of fun to watch.  If it were legal where you play?  Would you call this pitch? Would you like to throw it?  Please feel free to comment!

1. Spraying surfaces and furniture directly

You may be one of the many homeowners thinking that it is best to spray cleaning products directly onto different surfaces and furniture. However, this cleaning method makes your job harder since this creates a build-up of the solution, and this in turn can lead to greasy surfaces.

Instead, you must spray the cleaning solution directly onto a cloth and wipe this over the dirty surfaces. By doing so, stains and marks will be prevented, making cleaning easy and requiring less product.

2. Scrubbing carpet liquid spills immediately

Despite how careful you are, you may spill coffee, red wine, and other liquids on your carpet every now and then. Also, your pet may accidentally urinate over it.
When this happens, your first move would normally be to scrub the spills immediately. But if you do this, the carpet fibers will become untwisted and the pile will get distorted, resulting in permanent damage.

Instead of scrubbing, you must get a paper towel and blot the spill immediately until it gets dry or until the towel can no longer attract color from it. Otherwise, you must treat your carpet with a stain remover or perhaps have it professionally cleaned to get it back to its original condition.

3. Not using gloves when cleaning

The human skin is absorbent, meaning that it is capable of soaking up different substances that come into contact with it. Even when you are using natural cleaning solutions, your hands and skin can dry out. So you must always wear a pair of rubber gloves each time you do home cleaning chores.

The rubber gloves will act as a durable barrier between your skin and the environment that is full of bacteria, germs, and harmful substances. In fact, this is the best way to protect your skin while keeping your abode tidy and healthy.

4. Cleaning your chopping board with a liquid detergent

Dishwashing liquid does a great job of cleaning greasy pans and pots, but this cleaning solution is not effective in terms of cleaning your chopping boards. Why? It’s because it is not capable of killing the harmful bacteria from raw meat. In turn, this poses a risk to your health.

Our experienced maids here at Matic Services recommend soaking your chopping board in bleach after every use to stop the risk of bacteria or germ transfer.

5. Cleaning areas of your home in the wrong order

It may sound obvious that you should not clean from the ground up, but you might be doing this unintentionally. For instance, you may start sweeping and mopping the floors even before dusting or wiping the furniture. If you do this, you will end up cleaning the floors once again because the dust and crumbs from the furniture and other surfaces will fall to your floor you had just cleaned.

As such, you must always remind yourself to clean each room in your house from top to the bottom. Start from the ceilings and windows, down to the counters and tables, couches and chairs, and end with the floor.

6. Neglecting to clean the vacuum

The vacuum is an essential cleaning tool, but if you do not replace or clean its filter on a regular basis, it won’t be able to pick up as much dirt and dust as it should. Also, the dirt will just be blown back to your carpet, or worse, into the air.

So make sure to empty the vacuum bag or change the vacuum filter once it becomes full or inefficient. Furthermore, wipe the hose, vent and other vacuum attachments with a moist paper towel or a damp clean cloth.

7. Dusting your entire home with feather dusters or dry rags

When it comes to cleaning hard-to-reach areas in your house, feather dusters can be of great help. But instead of totally getting rid of dust, these will just transfer the dirt from one surface or place to another. The same is true with dry rags.

Instead of using feather dusters or dry rags, you must use a microfiber cloth. This cleaning material can pick up dust more efficiently.

8. Cleaning the windows on a warm, sunny day

When the sun is up, you may feel inspired to clean your house, but cleaning your windows on a warm, sunny day is not highly advised. This is because glass cleaners can dry up rapidly, which results in streaks on your window panes. Also, the cleaning product can accumulate.

To achieve the gleaming glass you have in mind, you should clean your windows only when the skies are cloudy or dark. You can then make use of a microfiber cloth for faster drying.

Home cleaning is not an easy job. It requires proper knowledge and technique so as not to put your time, efforts and money to waste
