Do you need to be the P1 on your team to be recruited?

“You have to have game time for them to be able to see you.”

Pitching Coach Monica Fenton has helped players find success in the circle for 18 years. She’s seen well over a hundred of her students recruited to schools around the country.

In Part 2 of our interview with her, she answers these questions:

– Do you need to be the #1 pitcher on your team to get recruited?
– What do you see in young pitchers that needs to change?
– How many pitches should a pitcher have?

Her perspective is very interesting because she says one of her students threw a pitch better than most in the country, but her college coaches don’t want to use that pitch anymore.  She sheds light on what can happen in the transition from travel ball to college and how her students dealt with it.
